V Centenary of America´s discovery monument
It´s located in the same name park, at Lepe´s entrance. Sculpture made by Francisca Abreu, artist from Lepe, and it symbolizes to the city´s sailors who took part on the America´s discovery, specially, Rodrigo de Triana, first sailor who caught sight of land accompaning to Christopher Columbus in the expedition and who some writers have linked to Lepe´s history. This monument is composed of five sculptures carved in stone, measuring between one and two meters. The main sculpture represents to Rodrigo de Triana. He´s represented on the "Carabela Pinta", when he scramed ¡land ho!, in October 12, 1492, on seeing fire in a caribbean island. The others sculptures represent three sailors doing several activities and a woman pulling of a fishing net.
